Located just 15 minutes southwest of the City of Peterborough, Millbrook’s turn-of-the-century charm will serve as an ideal back drop to a mix of classical touring, roadster and muscle cars of the past on Saturday, July 2, 2016.

The Millbrook Lions Club is once again gearing up for the 11th Annual Millbrook Classic Car Show, sponsored by Millennium Crane Rental and the Millbrook BIA.

The car show begins at 8 a.m., when King Street from Tupper to Union will be lined with antique cars — 25 years and older — of all makes and models.

For enthusiasts, classic car restoration is an art form and a labour of love. Restoring a car takes a lot of time, a lot of dedication, and a lot of attention to detail.

Some projects take years, as owners complete extensive and painstaking research to restore a vehicle to its original factory condition. In each case, there’s likely an interesting tale about how the car was found, what condition it was in, where replacement parts were located, and perhaps what “upgrades” were made.

Merchants in downtown Millbrook can certainly appreciate the level of patience involved in restoring a classic car, having spent the last six weeks surrounded by the dirt, dust, and chaos of construction. Now that the roadwork is nearing completion, they are looking forward to showcasing the newly completed streetscape enhancements to both new and return visitors.

The Millbrook Lions Club has been hosting the Classic Car Show for many years. Each year, the show gets better and better and this year is no exception.

In addition to the dazzling array of antique vehicles, there’ll be lots of great music, food and — new this year — tethered hot air balloon rides. Parking is available on any of the side streets, unless otherwise indicated by signage, and at the Millbrook Arena.

After taking in the car show while surrounded by some of the most prominent historic buildings in the area, visitors can purchase something truly one-of-a-kind from a unique array of retail stores or grab a tasty bite to eat. Many merchants will be offering car show specials and promotions.

If you haven’t yet been to Millbrook, nestled in the rolling hills of the Township of Cavan Monaghan, the Classic Car Show is a perfect opportunity to visit this picturesque little town where antique meets modern.
