A Winery in the Kawarthas?

You may not know this but the Kawarthas has it's own winery! Kawartha Country Wines is located just North of Buckhorn on Highway 36, and they make a number of fruit and grape wines. They've just teamed up with Empire Cheese out of Campbellford to create a Raspberry Cheddar Cheese. They use Raspberry Wine, made from Buckhorn Berry Farm raspberries, which is then infused into a block of Empire Old Cheddar! New Market in Lakefield

The Market in Lakefield opens this Wednesday. The Market is located at 112 Queen Street, in the Subway Plaza across from Country Style. Owners Lee and Sharon Galley were the original owners of The Little Market in Lakefield. They plan to offer fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs, dressings, pasta, fruit baskets, local Kawartha Dairy products, and Black River Cheese, a gourmet produce market.
