Uptown Music - a new music store in Peterborough Last week I mentioned that Musicland was going out of business. What I didn't realize at the time was that Steve Peconi, who has been with Musicland for five years, is starting a brand new music store with partner Tim Green. It'll be called Uptown Music and naturally will be located in the former location of the Uptown Silk Shoppe, most recently Browsers Nook, at 404 George Street at the corner of Hunter Street! Steve and Tim are definitely going big as they plan on three floors of pianos, guitars, band and orchestral instruments, drums, PA Systems, print music, rentals, a service department and, starting in September, a school of music. They promise everything you enjoyed at Musicland, including the instructors, plus a lot more. Look for a June 1, 2005 opening and a new web site. For more information call Steve at 705-760-9149.
Update on new building centre I promised the details on the new Home Hardware Building Centre on Chemong Road a couple of weeks ago. Steve Gynane is the President and General Manager, along with partners Harry Morrison, Terry Jenkins, Jim Adams and Bill Gilliam. It's a big one! Two buildings, 25,000 square feet each, with everything you need to build and outfit a new home. Look for an opening in mid-July and make sure you're watching the Examiner for the call for résumés as they'll be hiring up to 60 people. www.homehardware.ca will give you more information, or you can call Steve at 1-800-561-9069.

Denise, with an honours degree in psychology, and experience at many levels, most recently as a learning strategist at Fleming College, can offer one on one tutoring or group instruction for elementary, high school or College and University students.
