Lakefield Local Harvest adds Brunch Here are a couple of upcoming events featuring local food producers. Lakefield's annual Local Harvest is on Sunday August 14th. Organizer Laurie Collette has added a brunch to this year's event, so you'll now be able to choose between noon, 5:30 or 6:15 seatings. The brunch also adds a new family dimension to the event with lots of activities for kids such as jumping castles, crafts, 3-legged races, sack races and egg and spoon races, as well as music throughout the park. Tickets are available at Happenstance Books and Yarn in Lakefield and at the Thursday Lakefield Farmers Market. The Purple Onion local food festival is announced And the Purple Onion Festival will take place September 24 in Millennium Park. Presented by Transition Town Peterborough the event will feature local food, market street vendors, local entertainment and a restaurant dine-around after the festival through to October 31st. For more information visit www.thepurpleonion.org. Chamber Business Excellence Awards deadline approaches And be sure to get your nomination in to the Chamber Business Excellence Awards. The annual event is on October 18 and publicy recognizes 51 local businesses, plus the Business Citizen of the Year. The nomination process is easy, and self nominations are encouraged.
