Sporting Activity: Peterborough Cycling Club presents Saturday "Rec Ride" beginning at 2:00 pm in Peterborough. The Saturday Rec Ride is just like the Wednesday Rec Ride though the distances will generally be longer. The ride will start on May 11 and continue until late September. Each ride will leave from the Silver Bean. The focus is on having a sociable ride and getting comfortable riding in a group. For those new to group riding, there will be instruction in the “dos and don’ts” of group riding. This ride exists so that people who are new to group riding, or who want companionship as some motivation to get out on a bike, have a group to join. The first few rides will likely be shorter and slower than rides later in the season. Rides will generally be two hours, or more, in duration. The goal is to have people ready to complete rides of slightly over 100 km within four hours of riding by the end of August. Last year’s group attended an organized 100 km ride in Picton at the end of September and a grand time was had by all. A road bike and helmets are required. Cost: PCC Membership is required.
