Have you ever wanted to run further or faster? This is your opportunity to learn how to make that happen. Instructor Ryan Hawkrigg will provide tips and advice on improving your running and helping you achieve your athletic and personal goals. Ryan has competed as a varsity athlete in both cross country and track and field at the national and international level and has a bachelor of science in Human Kinetics. This program starts in the North End room at the Victoria Park Armoury, followed by a group run. Topics will include: Assessment (Endurance/Form), Proper Warm Up/Cool Down Techniques, Programming (distance/speed/strength), Speed Training, Strength Training, Stretching/Injury Prevention, and The Long Run. Class starts Thursday May 23 and runs for 8 weeks. Pre-registration is required. This is a great way to get ready for the Lindsay Milk Run taking place on Sunday July 23, 2013 and offers both a 5km run/walk and a 10k race.
