City of Kawartha Lakes

As of Aug. 31, 2012 - The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit reports the following beach testing results for the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Testing is based on the most recent test results from the provincial lab in Peterborough for water samples taken from these beaches. The Health Unit advises local residents to note:

  • Beaches marked as 'Open' are considered within the acceptable levels as set out in the Ontario government's Beach Management Protocol.

  • Beaches marked 'Posted' indicate bacterial levels in the water are higher than those considered acceptable as set out in the Ontario government's Beach Management  Protocol, making them unsafe for bathing.

  • Beaches listed as 'Unavailable' indicate test results are not yet available. People are advised to call the Health Unit toll-free at 1-866-888-4577 or check back shortly for the most up-to-date results on these beaches.

Peterborough City/County

Beach sampling for the 2012 swimming season has now been completed. Please visit back in the spring of 2013.

The 2 public beaches in the City of Peterborough are sampled by PCCHU Public Health Inspectors at least once each business day.  Public beaches in Peterborough County are sampled at least once every week except for Chandos Beach and Quarry Bay Beach which are sampled at least once in June, July and August.
