Living in The Kawarthas: Behind The Scenes
Coming Soon!
We know that the Kawarthas are a wealth of stunning scenery, a year round outdoor playground, and home to a vast wealth of
artistic talent and committed volunteers.
Our Behind The Scenes column will profile the people who give their time and talent to our communities and we'll ask them why they call The Kawarthas home. Our mission is to talk to interesting people who love the Kawarthas, adapt their lives and work to be here, and
are building businesses and careers to allow them to stay here.
If you have a suggestion or lead for a profile, please do let us know through our Content Feedback page.
The profiles below are in progress and will be published in the coming weeks!

Jack Roe |
|
"Jack Lives Here" - you know his voice as the
CBC Ontario Morning Peterborough Reporter.
Jack Roe visited his friend Tony Storey
in Peterborough in the late 1970's. And Jack is still
here, living in The Kawarthas - a long time
broadcaster and news director. We talk to
Jack about his radio career, baseball, theatre,
truffles and his love of The Kawarthas.

Julie Kirkpatrick |
|
We talk to Canadian writer and lawyer
Julie Kirkpatrick (living in Millbrook) about her
recently released book
The Camino Letters. Her 26 day journey of the
ancient 600 km pilgrimage path of Camino
de Santiago brought unexpected gifts and a
life changing experience.

Michael Hurcomb |
|
Chances are you've seen photographer Michael
Hurcomb's photos of your favourite local band,
but during concerts and events he plays a low
profile near the stage with skill and agility.
We talk to Michael about his passion for shooting
live music - and - as a Toronto based
photographer, why he's hanging out around
stages in The Kawarthas.

Heather Bayer |
|
We talk to the "Cottage Guru" about her online success in the cottage rental industry, blogging, tweeting and being a professional vacation rental owner.
We met Heather on Twitter and later connected on Facebook, so we think she'll have some insight to share on building a business online while Living in The Kawarthas.
