Workshop: The Canadian Canoe Museum presents "Build a Wanigan and Sew a Tumpline" beginning at 9:00 am at Canadian Canoe Museum (2077 Ashburnham Dr., Peterborough, K9L 1P8). A wanigan is a wooden box, carried with a tumpline, that can be packed and carried on a canoe trip. Most opt to store their cooking supplies in it, and it will easily hold a grill, pots and pans, cutlery, spices, etc. In this disciplinary workshop you'll start the day with a hammer and nails assembling the wooden pieces of your wanigan. After lunch you try your hand at the basics of leather working by sewing together the leather pieces of your tumpline. By the end of the day your finished wanigan and tumpline are ready for next backcountry canoe trip. Cost: $280. For more information and to register, visit https://canoemuseum.ca/learn/workshop.
