Live Music: Tweed & Company Theatre presents "Dear Rita - A Musical Toast to Rita MacNeil" beginning at 2:00 pm at Bancroft Village Playhouse (5 Hastings St. S., Bancroft, K0L 1C0). A musical celebration of Cape Breton's first lady of song, Rita MacNeil. Created by Lindsay Kyte and Mike Ross with new, re-imagined arrangements of Rita's music by PEI composer and musician Mike Ross. The cast includes actor-musicians who both sing and play instruments, channelling MacNeil's stories and spirit through their own identities as opposed to a literal depiction of the Canadian icon herself. Evening performances at 7 p.m. from June 12 to 15 with matinee performances at 2 p.m. on June 13, 15, and 16. Cost: $38.50 adults, $33.50 seniors 65+, $25 arts workers, $23.50 students and youth.
