Webinar: Trent University presents Leadership Matters: From Economistic to Humanistic Leadership beginning at 12:00 pmLeadership Matters is a free lunch-hour webinar series designed to bridge the gap between leadership theory and real-world practice. Each session brings together faculty, students, and community members to explore how leadership can address today's challenges. In "From Economistic to Humanistic Leadership" presented by Dr. Sheldene Simola, participants will learn how business and leadership since the 1970s have moved from profit-driven and hierarchical models toward more socially responsible and collaborative approaches, but these changes remain incremental and constrained by conventional economic thinking. Today, a more radical shift is emerging as diverse actors form "islands of coherence" and experiment with humanistic and contemplative leadership practices that offer hope for systemic transformation. Drawing on the research of Pirson, Scharmer, Henderson and others, this session will discuss this transition from economistic to humanistic leadership. Cost: Free, but advance registration required.
