Art Gallery of Peterborough presents "Traces" by Tyler Durbano

Date:Saturday, January 17 - Sunday, March 29, 2026
Location:    Art Gallery of Peterborough (250 Crescent St., Peterborough)
Cost:Free (donations encouraged)

"Traces" is a contemplative exhibition by Barrie-based queer visual artist and cultural worker Tyler Durbano that uses analog Polaroid photography and intuitive pencil crayon drawings to explore thresholds between form and feeling, presence and absence, and to map atmospheric latent histories within landscapes. Rooted in slow observation and walks through Simcoe County and Barrie, the work captures subtle "traces" in the environment — paths etched by desire, refuge and movement — and reframes overlooked suburban and rural sites as spaces of quiet power, reflecting on queer spatiality and embodied ways of seeing and being in the world. An opening reception will be held from 2 - 4 p.m. on January 17. The gallery is open from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday.
