A downtown rally and march from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. followed by a free event of music, food, discussion, and community at the Peterborough Public Library from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. The rally will start at City Hall with an opening drumming from the local group Naandewegaan (Healing With Drums) and a reading of the International Women's Day Declaration by city councillor Joy Lachica. Peterborough's most recent poet laureate Ziysah von Bieberstein will offer a poem before the march that proceeds to the Peterborough Public Library for an event in the the Friends of the Library Community Room featuring performances by Missy Knott and the Raging Grannies, an opening prayer, an opening drumming by Naandewegaan (Healing With Drums), and keynote speaker Kat Owens from the Women's Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF). Light refreshments will be provided.
