Concert: Peterborough Symphony Orchestra presents "Bright Lights" featuring guest artist Shawn Mativetsky beginning at 7:30 pm at Showplace Performance Centre (290 George St. N., Peterborough, K9J 3H2). The Peterborough Symphony Orchestra opens its 2025-26 season with a concert featuring the Overture to the Barber of Seville, a comical mini-masterpiece by Gioachino Rossini, Canadian composer Dinuk Wijertane's Concerto for Tabla and Orchestra with guest artist Shawn Mativetsky on tabla, and Mozart’s final Symphony, no. 41 "Jupiter." There will be a Meet the Maestro pre-concert talk with conductor Michael Newnham at 6:45 p.m. Cost: $57 Section A, $50 Section B, $36 Section C ($15 for students for all seats), with $30 for day-of-concert rush seats.
