Lecture: Peterborough Chapter of the Ontario Archaeological Society presents "Fishing Lake Baikal: Radiocarbon reservoir effect corrections for early Hunter-Gatherers" by Corrie Hyland beginning at 7:00 pmCorrie Hyland is a graduate of Trent University's BSc Archaeological Science (2018) and MA Anthropology (2020) programs, where she used stable isotope analysis to learn more about the lives of people in the past. She recently completed a DPhil in Archaeological Science at the University of Oxford where she applied stable isotope analysis in new ways to understand the importance of freshwater resources to ancient hunter-gatherer communities around Lake Baikal (the world's largest freshwater lake by volume). Hyland will share the results of her PhD research and discuss its implications for improving the radiocarbon dating of human remains for this exciting region of the world.
