Lecture: Sophia Hilton Foundation of Canada and Ganaraska Conservation present Mino Bimaadiziwin - Part 3 - Zhaawanong (South) beginning at 7:00 pm at Ganaraska Millennium Conservation Area (2216 County Road 28, Port Hope, L1A 3V8). A free five-part series in the Ganaraska Millennium Building exploring Anishinaabe worldview, teachings, and storytelling based on the four directions featuring Dr. Jennifer Meness, Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation and Professor of Indigenous Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University. From the Southern direction we learn about the cycle of youth and summer. Summer to Anishinaabe people includes Powwow. How does powwow relate to smoke and dreaming? How does the Jingle Dress Dance relate to the Thunder Beings? Learn teachings from the Southern direction and hear old knowledge about Powwow revived through the sound-based philosophy in the Anishinaabe language. Cost: Free, but advance registration required. For more information and to register, visit https://grca.on.ca/speaker-series/.
