The September edition of the Then & Now Film Series presents a cinematic double feature which explores what it means to be human, with an exciting panel discussion in between. In Don Siegel's 1956 sci-fi classic "Invasion of the Body Snatchers," a small town's inhabitants are gradually replaced by emotionless clones grown from spores that have drifted to earth from space. The 2023 Canadian film "With Love and a Major Organ" imagines a dystopia in which most people no longer experience individuality or emotions. Anabel, who is one of the few who are still prey to feelings, falls in love with a man who cannot return them; so she removes her heart (hearts are transferable in this world) and sends it to him. Panels guests to be announced.
