Float Your Fanny Down the Ganny is a 10km race along the Ganaraska River to commemorate the 1980 flood that crippled Port Hope’s downtown area. Start times are 10 a.m. for canoes and kayaks (from Canton Bridge) and 11 a.m. for crazy craft (from Sylvan Glen Conservation Area). Centred around the finish area at Barrett Street Bridge and Cavan Street, the Fannyville event village will offer entertainment and activities, as well as the chance to watch the participants float over the last rapids section of the course. Live commentary will be provided, as well as some additional entertainment on the water. Spectators and visitors will be able to enjoy food and drinks from one of the many vendors along the banks, or make the short walk into the town for shopping or bars. If deemed necessary because of river conditions, the race date may be rescheduled for April 18.
