A participatory workshop facilitated by Laura MacDonald and Danita Gilbert for people who support community members facing health challenges and barriers to care. Based on "Palliative Care Is ... A Collective Response to Death, Dying and Grief in the Innner City" (Equity in Palliative Approaches to Care, University of Victoria), the workshop will cover the unique role of non-medical direct service providers in recognizing, and advocating for, the health needs of the people they support. This workshop is aimed at social service workers including but not limited to housing, shelter, harm reduction, case management and outreach workers. A meal will be provided at the beginning of the event.
