Here’s a list of the certified candidates for the upcoming municipal election in the five most populous municipalities in the greater Kawarthas region: the City of Peterborough, City of Kawartha Lakes, Town of Cobourg, Township of Selwyn, and Municipality of Port Hope.
Under the Municipal Elections Act, the nomination period closed at 2 p.m. on Friday (August 21) and municipal clerks had until 4 p.m. the following Monday (August 24) to certify or reject nominations.
The following list includes candidates for contested seats (with filing dates where available), those who have withdrawn their nominations, and a few who have been acclaimed as they were the sole candidate — most notably in Selwyn Township, where Ron Black has been acclaimed as mayor, John Boyko has been acclaimed as deputy mayor, and Mary Coulas has been acclaimed as Ennismore Ward councillor.
