Does the perfect man really exist?
Find out when Globus Theatre in Bobcaygeon presents Norm Foster’s romantic comedy A Woman’s Love List from September 30 to October 10.
The play turns the premise of Foster’s 2003 hit comedy The Love List, where two men create a list of qualities describing the perfect woman only to have her unexpectedly appear, on its head.
In A Woman’s Love List, professional sportswriter Carly and her best friend Megan decide to do the same thing in search of Carly’s perfect man. When handsome, charming, and attentive Blaze Wilson appears, he is seemingly equipped with every quality Carly could want.
However, it turns out that perfection is a moving target. Carly and Megan revise the list and Blaze changes along with it, shifting from one personality to another. When he discovers what the women have been doing, their plan for perfection takes an unexpected turn.
A Woman’s Love List, which had its world premiere at the Orillia Opera House in July 2025, explores the difference between finding someone who checks every box and finding someone who is actually right for you.
“The characters want love,” Foster said in advance of Lighthouse Festival Theatre’s staging of the play this summer. “They want to feel love. What’s stopping them from getting that love is the mystery of the man they have conjured up.”
The Globus production of A Woman’s Love List stars artistic director and co-founder Sarah Quick as Megan, Elana Post as Carly, and Allan Cooke as Blaze.
Quick has appeared in more than 40 Globus productions over the theatre’s 23 seasons, including Educating Rita, The 39 Steps, Shirley Valentine, Sexy Laundry, Halfway There, Lunenburg, Hurry Hard, and The Ladies Foursome.
Most recently, she appeared as Gwen in Beyond the Sea. She is also an accomplished playwright whose works include Knickers! A Brief Comedy, #Happy, Sunshine Express, Making a Move, and Having Relations.
Post is also a familiar face to Globus audiences, having appeared in Desperate to be Doris, The Ladies Foursome, and Hurry Hard. Her other stage credits include productions with Cow Patti Theatre, Theatre Aezir, Lighthouse Festival Theatre, Theatre By The Bay, and Port Stanley Festival Theatre.
Cooke appeared earlier this season at Globus as Clive in Murder at the Match – 2026 World Cup Edition and previously performed with the company in Quick’s Do You Take This Man?
Originally from the United Kingdom, Cooke has spent about 15 years acting and writing in Canada, with stage credits at Upper Canada Playhouse, Cow Patti Theatre, and Lighthouse Festival Theatre. His television credits include several appearances on CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries.
A Woman’s Love List is being staged at 8 p.m. from September 30 to October 3 and October 7 to 10, with additional 2 p.m. matinees on October 3, 8, and 10. An optional dinner is available at 6 p.m. before evening performances.
