Two largest health units in Kawarthas region considering a voluntary merger

Peterborough Public Health and the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit are assessing impacts of merger in response to provincial government funding offer.
Applications open on November 1, 2023 for the City of Peterborough's 2024 community grants program, which will be modified in 2025 in part to better address the funding needs of arts organizations. In June 2023, The Theatre On King's artistic director Ryan Kerr (pictured with property manager Kristi Dick at Cherney Properties) renewed a two-year lease for the organization's 171 King Street location following a successful community fundraising campaign. The future of Peterborough's only black-box theatre had been thrown into doubt earlier in the year when city council decided against providing a community investment grant to the organization, even though the theatre had received the maximum grant the previous year.
