Concert: Market Hall and kawarthaNOW.com present Blackie and The Rodeo Kings 25th Anniversary Tour beginning at 8:00 pm at Market Hall Performing Arts Centre (140 Charlotte St., Peterborough, K9H 7E8). Roots rockers Blackie and The Rodeo Kings (Colin Linden, Stephen Fearing, and Tom Wilson with John Dymond and Gary Craig) return to the Market Hall for two performances. The band originally formed in 1996 when Colin, Stephen, and Tom Wilson came together to record what was suppose to be a one-off tribute album to the great Canadian songwriter and Peterborough native Willie P. Bennett. Now more than 25 years later, with 10 albums (including their most recent, 2020's "King of This Town"), one Juno award and several Juno nominations under their belts, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings have organically evolved into one of the finest roots-oriented bands in North America. Juno award-winning Indigenous husband-and-wife duo Digging Roots (Raven Kanatakta and ShoShona Kish), whose musical style blends folk-rock, pop, blues, and hip hop, will open. Cost: $50 in advance, $55 at door (ticket prices include tax and fees). For more information and tickets, visit https://markethall.org/blackie-and-the-rodeo-kings-2/.
