Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) becomes winter caretaker at the isolated Overlook Hotel in Colorado, hoping to cure his writer's block. He settles in along with his wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) and his son Danny (Danny Lloyd), who is plagued by psychic premonitions.
