Environment: Birchcliff Property Owners Association (BPOA) presents Wildfire and Wastewater Workshop beginning at 1:00 pm at Camp Kawartha (1010 Birchview Rd, Douro-Dummer, K0L 2H0). The Birchcliff Property Owners Association (BPOA) is one of many groups across Canada participating in Wildfire Community Preparedness Day. The BPOA received funding from FireSmart™ Canada fora local mitigation project to help reduce the risk of wildland fire damage in their neighbourhood. The public workshop in the Rotary Hall focuses on wildfire risk reduction strategies and sewage system maintenance and compliance. The presentations will provide practical information, resources and tools to help protect homes, the community, and the environment, and will help participants understand the requirements of the Douro-Dummer Sewage System Maintenance Inspection Program. Ken Cox from the Ministry of Natural Resources will provide actionable steps that residents can take on their properties and within their neighbourhoods to become more resilient to house fires and wildfires. Cost: Free. For more information visit https://www.bpoa.ca/.
