Concert: Peterborough Symphony Orchestra presents "Strength + Sparkle" beginning at 7:30 pm at Showplace Performance Centre (290 George St. N., Peterborough, K9J 3H2). The concert begins with Felix Mendelssohn's Overture to "A Midsummer Night's Dream," with Canadian violinist Erika Raum joining the orchestra for Sergei Prokofiev's "Violin Concerto No. 1." The concert concludes with Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, "Eroica." The evening also marks Maestro Michael Newnham's 25th anniversary as music director. A "Meet the Maestro" pre-concert talk takes place at 6:45 p.m. Cost: $72 - $285 for season subscriptions. Single tickets go on sale September 1.
