Theatre: Capitol Theatre presents "Urinetown: The Musical" beginning at 7:30 pm at Capitol Theatre Arts Centre (20 Queen St., Port Hope, L1A 2Y7). In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single company that profits by charging admission. Amid the people, a hero decides that he's had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom. "Urinetown" is a hilarious musical satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, environmental collapse, privatization of natural resources, bureaucracy, municipal politics, and musical theatre. Music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann and book and lyrics by Greg Kotis. Directed by Rob Kempson, with music direction by Shane O'Regan and choreography by Lyndsey Britten. Evening performances at 7:30 p.m. July 16 and 17, 22 to 24, 29 to 31, and August 5 to 7, with 2 p.m. matinee performances July 18, 20 to 22, 24 and 25, 27 to 29, and 31, and August 1, 3 to 5, and 7 and 8. Cost: Season subscription packages available for $165 - $515, with 15% off until December 31. Single tickets on sale in early 2027.
