While Leader Dogs for the Blind is headquartered in Rochester Hills, Michigan, the organization has a significant impact in Canada, particularly in Ontario. Out of 948 guide dogs placed in Canada, 621 have gone to individuals in Ontario. Of the 38 Canadians served by the organization's Orientation & Mobility program, 29 were from Ontario. Additionally, 10 Canadian teens have attended the Leader Dog Summer Experience Camp in the U.S. Leader Dogs for the Blind provides all of its services completely free of charge thanks to individual donors, endowments, and fundraising events like this local Walk-A-Thon. Their mission is to empower people who are blind or visually impaired with lifelong skills for safe, independent travel.
