Sunrise ceremony begins at 7 a.m. followed at 9 a.m. by the opening session with a welcome from Curve Lake First Nation Chief Laurie Hockaday and Mnoominkewin Gathering Director Janet McCue. The day's activities include keynote addresses by Dr. Kaitlin Patterson of the All My Relations Land Trust and Haudenosaunee scholars and activists Chandra Maracle and Rick Hill, a mnoomin (wild rice) workshop, a mnoomin-themed Anishnaabemowin language lesson, canoe tours of mnoomin beds (a pontoon boat tour is available), artist demonstrations, kids activities, a mnoomin-inspired lunch and dinner catered by Chef Shawn Adler, and more.
