A screening of the 2024 Canadian documentary "Butterflies on the Brink: The Story of the Mottled Duskywing." The Mottled Duskywing butterfly, found only in a handful of habitats in Ontario, is vanishing at an alarming rate. Narrated by Sarah Harmer, the documentary follows the three-year effort of the research and recovery team to bring this species back to its former range, including Integrative Biology Professor Dr. Ryan Norris and his team at the University of Guelph, Biologist Jessica Linton, the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory and Wildlife Preservation Canada. The screening will be followed by a brief presentation by Hayden Wilson who will share Kawartha Land Trust's efforts to support the butterfly in Trent Lakes and Karen Shearer from the Buckhorn Community Centre to highlight the centre's new pollinator garden and what kind of plants support native butterflies.
