The sixth day of the 41-day journey of the Pan Am Games Torch Relay saw the flame travel from Algonquin Provincial Park to Peterborough, passing through Minden, Lindsay, and Omemee along the way.
When the flame reached Peterborough at around 5 p.m. on Thursday, the flame travelled five kilometres down the Trent Severn Waterway to the Peterborough Lift Lock, where it then made its way through downtown Peterborough to the community celebration at Del Crary Park.
The Peterborough torchbearers, in sequential order, were David Christopher Leach, Jim Watt, Karen Stillman, Ron Whetung, Jennifer Beckberger, Vicki King, Holly Murray, Godfrey DeSira, J David Anderson, Cheryl Copson, Gregg Hall, Cody Caldwell, Tessa DeSouza, Julia Burch, Kerri Loyst-Benn, Dieter Wittek, Robert Gallagher, Ryan Stabler, Chad Salter, David Anthony Morello, Ken Adamson, and Alec Denys.
On Friday, June 5th, the second day of the Pan Am Torch Relay in Peterborough saw the flame depart from Queen Mary Public School, where student Katie Oickle was the first torchbearer. Twelve more people carried the flame south on Monaghan Road to Lansdowne Street.
