Severe thunderstorm

The day after thunderstorms disrupted Canada Day celebrations in several communities and caused power outages, Environment Canada has issued another severe thunderstorm watch for the Kawarthas region for Thursday afternoon and evening (July 2).

The “yellow” severe thunderstorm watch is currently in effect for southern Peterborough County, Northumberland County, and Hastings Highlands.

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms over the area on Thursday afternoon and evening that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
