A 63-year-old Warkworth man has been seriously injured as a result of a propane explosion at Bellmere Winds Golf Resort in Keene.
At around 3 p.m. on Wednesday (July 22), Peterborough County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and fire and emergency medical services responded to a report of a propane explosion at the golf course.
Police say the man was transported from the scene by ambulance before being airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to a statement from Great Blue Resorts, which owns Bellmere Winds Golf Resort, the man is an employee of the resort and the incident happened at one of the cottages.
“Our thoughts are with our team member and their loved ones during this difficult time,” the statement reads, adding that the company is “cooperating fully with the appropriate authorities as they investigate the incident.”
Police are continuing to investigate the incident and have notified the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.
