Two teenage Peterborough boys are facing charges following an armed robbery of a convenience store early Monday morning (July 27).
At around 3:20 a.m., Peterborough police were called to a convenience store at Sherbrooke Street and Denure Drive about a robbery involving two suspects, both wearing masks, with one brandishing a knife and taking money from the till.
After arriving at the scene, officers spotted two suspects fleeing on foot who matched the description given to police. An officer followed them and arrested them at gunpoint as they attempted to jump a fence between houses on a nearby street.
During a search after the arrest, officers located and seized a knife from one of the suspects and found a knife on the ground. Officers also recovered cash, alcohol, and candy from the suspects. No one was injured in the incident.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged a 14-year-old Peterborough boy with robbery with theft and a 16-year-old Peterborough boy with robbery with a weapon.
Both accused boys were released on an undertaking with conditions and are scheduled to appear in court on September 14.
