A motorcyclist and his passenger were both seriously injured on Sunday evening (August 30) after colliding with a pickup truck on Northeys Bay Road in North Kawartha Township.

At around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Peterborough County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted by emergency medical services who were enroute to a collision on Northeys Bay Road.

Officers arrived on scene to find a pickup truck with front-end damage and a motorcycle lying on the road beside the truck. According to the OPP, the motorcycle appeared to have been travelling eastbound when it failed to negotiate a bend in the road, crossing into the other lane and colliding with the westbound pickup truck.

The two occupants of the pickup truck were uninjured, although the airbags in their truck had deployed.
