Holiday Magic is made year after year by Ballet Jörgen’s The Nutcracker: a Canadian Tradition. Created by acclaimed choreographer and Artistic Director Bengt Jörgen to Tchaikovsky’s well-loved score, the work is based on the popular traditional story “The Nutcracker and the King of Mice” byE.T.A. Hoffman. Born from a collaboration withthe world-renowned McMichael Canadian ArtCollection, this is a beautiful Canadian work with20th Century landscapes - including FranklinCarmichael and Tom Thompson - making upthe stunning 30-foot backdrops. Audiencesare taken on Klara’s magical dream journeyas she arrives in Canada and experienceswinter landscapes filled with snowflakes,lumberjacks, Mounties, as well as a charmingdivertissement of raccoons, loons, dragonflies,and bears demonstrating her longing for thesummer months. The final act is danced byLord and Lady Birch as they usher Klara safelyhome at the end of the adventure
