Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), an American expatriate who owns a nightclub in Casablanca, discovers his old flame Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) is in town with her husband, Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid), as Czechoslovak resistance leader with the Nazis on his tail. Rick is forced to confront his past and make a moral choice: should he sacrifice his own happiness to ensure Ilsa and Laszlo can escape safely?
