Emerging in the 1950s, British popular music was influenced greatly by North American musical styles but, by the 60’s, the unique sound of British artists headed across “the pond” resulting in a renaissance of musical freedom and creativity. The national appeal of UK artists such as The Hollies, Herman’s Hermits, Elton John, Rod Stewart, The Rolling Stones and the Beatles soon gave way to a phenomenal international success which continues to this day. Some of the proceeds will benefit the Canadian Mental Health Association.
