The 11th Annual Peterborough Ribfest features succulently prepared ribs and sauces, but among the meaty festivities and sweet-smelling smoke, there will be even more to enjoy at Millennium Park this weekend.

There will be eclectic offerings from great local restaurants, including The Shish-Kabob Hut, The Works, Dr. Hunger, Island Cream Caribbean Cuisine, The Nutty Chocolatier, Ariyana, and The Silver Bean Cafe.

After all of the great food, you’ll certainly want to leave room for the excellent array of free live music featured in the park all weekend.

Music on Friday runs from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and features local classic rockers Jericho’s Wall, blues/rock songstress Kim Doolittle, and headliner Harlan Pepper from Hamilton — who were last on stage in Peterborough at Market Hall last November, opening for Blackie and the Rodeo Kings.

These guys may be young, but they play like old souls and offer up a tasty hybrid of alt-country and rock with a slight nod to ’60s folk.

Saturday’s headliner is one of Peterborough’s favourites, The Weber Brothers. These gents bring a unique rock sound to the stage and from start to finish they deliver something special.

On Sunday afternoon, there’s even more excellent food and music at Ribfest.

Music goes from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Cadillacs start things off with covers from the ’60s through the ’90s.

Next up are Mayhemingways, an old-country sound made new with a twist of Cajun and bluegrass (also check them out at the Pig’s Ear on Saturday, July 13 at 10 p.m.).

The Ribfest festivities will wind up with two great blues acts: Out On Bail and Terry B3.

So fill up with ribs, beer, and great music at Ribfest!
