There’s a wide variety of music to be seen and heard during June in Peterborough and the Kawarthas. What better way to celebrate the season than getting out to see some live entertainment? Here are my picks for shows you should check out in June.
ELMS, garbageface, and PROCESSOR at The Spill in Peterborough on June 2
It’s billed as a “night of electric conjuring” at The Spill (414 George St. N., Peterborough, 705-748-6167) and, given the acts, it’ll likely be just that.
The evening of Tuesday, June 2nd will feature architects of pop gloom ELMS, local loud rap and beat master garbageface, and the return of PROCESSOR, an act in which synth and bass intertwine.
The show begins at 9:30 p.m. and tickets are $7 or pay what you can, available at the door.
“Dirt Off Yr Grave” – garbageface
Sarah DeCarlo at The Garnet in Peterborough on June 5
One of my favourite Peterborough area singer-songwriters is Sarah DeCarlo. Humour might feature prominently in one song, only to be followed by heart-wrenching truths about the environment or the treatment of Aboriginal peoples. She winds these important themes around catchy and ear-worm inducing melodies.
On Friday, June 5th, Sarah will be at The Garnet (231 Hunter St. W., Peterborough, 705-874-0107) with Peter Youngtree, who’s travelling from Newfoundland. Peter’s music is tender and thoughtful.
This is sure to be a well-spent Friday evening. Tickets are at the door and the show begins around 10 p.m.
“Everyday” – Sarah DeCarlo & friends
“Standing on the Road, Kicking Gravel” – Peter Youngtree
