If you want to travel north on Ashburnham Drive between Marsdale Drive and Maria Street in Peterborough’s East City, you’ll have to take a detour for the first three weeks of October.

The northbound lane of Ashburnham Drive, from Marsdale Drive at Beavermead Park to the south entrance of the Eastgate parking lot, is going to be closed from 6 a.m. on Monday, October 5th until Friday, October 23rd.

Lane restrictions and traffic jams have been a regular feature of this area of Ashburnham area since road reconstruction began earlier this summer, but this is the first time a lane has been closed. The lane is going to be closed to allow the replacement of the culvert at North Meade Creek.

During the closure, northbound traffic will be detoured to the west via George Street or to east via Television Road. Southbound traffic is not affected by the closure.

Following the culvert replacement, Ashburnham Drive will be restored back to a single lane in each direction.

There is some good news — for transit riders. Transit service is going to revert back to the regular Ashburnham route beginning at 6 a.m. on Thursday, October 1st and will serve all regular stops. The Ashburnham route will not be affected by the lane closure during October as it doesn’t travel north on that section of Ashburnham.
