A popular annual event hosted by the Millbrook Business Improvement Area (BIA), the 2024 edition of Ladies Night in downtown Millbrook is throwing it back in time to the 1980s. Held on Thursday, July 25 from 4 to 9 p.m. along King Street, the event will include live entertainment from local drag performers and roller derby girls, a vendor market, opportunities to be pampered, and prizes and discounts from local businesses. The Peterborough Canoe and Kayak Club is holding sprint canoeing and kayaking summer day camps for youth ages 8 to 14 on Little Lake at Beavermead Park in Peterborough. The week-long junior and senior youth camps will offer both beginner and experienced paddlers with the chance to learn from expert paddlers, engage in on-land games and activities, and have the opportunity if they wish to compete in racing competitions of various levels. After being closed in 2023, South-Dummer's Farmacy Gardens is once again open and selling native plants, herbs, vegetable plants, shrubs, fruit trees, and flowering plants through a 100-year-old cabin on a five-acre farm. Second-generation florist Emily Del Mastro grew the business out of a love for gardening and plant life, and ensures sustainability with limited plastics, no chemicals or pesticides, and locally sourced products. Along with selling her own photos, Ennismore's Linda Kassil offers custom photo shoots and services for local businesses.
For the 11th year, the not-for-profit Kawartha Potters' Guild is hosting "Clay & Play" week-long summer day camps for children ages 7 to 12 years of all skill levels. The camps will run every week from early July until the second week of August, featuring hours of clay work, outdoor exploration, and games and activities. Camps are available for kids seven to 12 of all skill levels, with two camps also available for teens ages 12 to 17.
Located south of Bobcaygeon on Pigeon Lake, Gamiing Nature Centre invites visitors to learn from, explore, and connect with nature through events, camps, workshops, and up to seven kilometre of trails across forests and wetlands.
