Celebration: Parks Canada presents Lock & Paddle 2025 beginning at 9:00 am at Peterborough Lift Lock (354 Hunter St. E., Peterborough, K9H 1Y6). Parks Canada's annual Lock & Paddle event combines colour and community as canoes and kayaks (no SUP or inflatables) arrive at the Peterborough Lift Lock for a day like no other. Imagine the thrill of entering from the bottom of the Peterborough Lift Lock, riding up, and then descending back down with fellow paddlers. Get your friends and family together, decorate your vessel, and come take part in a story you'll be telling for years to come. Plan ahead and decide where you will launch your canoe or kayak in order to reach the event. Access for this event is from the bottom of the Peterborough Lift Lock only, not the top. The day also features live music, kids' activities, a Lions Club BBQ, giant games, and more. Cost: Free (no registration required).
