For more than a decade, volunteers have helped restore a local tallgrass prairie, one of the rarest ecosystems in North America. You can continue this tradition by helping collect the seeds of tallgrass plants and wildflowers on this property. Land donor Ralph McKim has been managing the tallgrass prairie for almost two decades by germinating tallgrass plants like Little Bluestem, Big Bluestem, and Sideoats Grama in homemade greenhouses during the winter. The following year, the seeds, harvested with the help of volunteers like you, will be ready to be planted in the prairie.
