This workshop series aims to build solidarity across movements that are active in the community in efforts towards a national basic income guarantee. The first workshop in BIPN's Hope Series will be a lunch-and-learn workshop on World Food Day in collaboration with the Peterborough Food Action Network (PFAN). There will be a food demonstration followed by a light meal, along with some knowledge sharing on food and income insecurity. PFAN members will provide an update on local food insecurity rates and discuss their approach to addressing food insecurity, and Joan DiFruscia from the Otonabee-South Monaghan Food Cupboard will share from her perspective within the food bank system. Members of BIPN will offer a primer on a basic income guarantee, and there will be an opportunity for participants to engage in conversation at their tables.
