On Wednesday, July 16, 2014, restaurants, pubs, and cafés in the Peterborough area will once again “Paint the Town Red” in support of the United Way of Peterborough and District.

This is the second annual event organized by Michael VanDerHerberg, co-owner of the Silver Bean Café in downtown Peterborough with his wife Andrea. Last year, 14 restaurants in downtown Peterborough participated in Paint the Town Red, raising more than $9,000 for the United Way. This year, almost double that number of restaurants are taking part — including restaurants outside the downtown area and two restaurants in Lakefield and Millbrook.

Each of the 26 participating restaurants will give 25% of their net sales for the day to the United Way of Peterborough and District and its 32 member agencies, which provide more than 165 programs and services impacting more than 47,000 people annually.

It’s all happening on Wednesday, July 16, so be sure to plan a breakfast, lunch or dinner out on that day. When you speak to the staff or owners of these restaurants, please thank them for their generous contribution to the United Way of Peterborough and District.

If you have any questions, you can get in touch with Michael VanDerHerberg at vanderherberg@gmail.com.

You can also follow the United Way on Twitter @unitedwayptbo and use the hashtag #paintPtboRed to show your support.
