Theatre: Capitol Theatre presents "Farley Mowat's And No Birds Sang" beginning at 7:30 pm at Sculthorpe Theatre at Capitol Theatre Arts Centre (20 Queen St., Port Hope, L1A 2Y7). Based on Farley Mowat's acclaimed war memoir "And No Birds," this world premiere adaptation by Dave Carley tells Mowat's autobiographical account of his military service during World War II as a member of the Hastings Prince Edward Regiment. Mowat transforms from a young man into a combat veteran, alongside the devastating losses that come with wartime. Developed in the Capitol Theatre's 2024 Creators' Unit and directed by Rob Kempson. Evening performances at 7:30 p.m. on August 14 and 15, 20 to 22, 27 to 29, and September 3 to 5, with matinee performances at 2 p.m. on August 16, 18 to 20, 22 and 23, 25 to 27, 29 and 30, and September 1 to 3 and 5 and 6.
