"Steel Magnolias" is a 1987 stage play by American writer Robert Harling, based on his experience with his sister's death. The play is a comedy-drama about the bond among a group of Southern women in northwest Louisiana. The title suggests the "female characters are as delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel." It was adapted into a 1989 film starring Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakis, and Julia Roberts. Evening performances at 7:30 p.m. on July 18 and 19, 24 to 26, and July 31 to August 2, with matinee performances at 2 p.m. on July 20, 29 to 31, and August 2 and 3. Pay-what-you-can preview on July 18, relaxed performance on July 27, and Talk Back Thursday performances on July 24 and 31.
