Time:2 p.m.
Location:    Peterborough Public Library (345 Aylmer St N, Peterborough)

Investigate the childhood world of James Clarke, judge of the Superior Court of Ontario and subject of the play "The Kid from Simcoe Street" based on the memoir of the same name. James Clarke's world was defined by Simcoe Street from Water to Reid Street including the Empress, King George, and Queens hotels. The fire hall, next to where James resided in the 1940s, features large in his story as do St. Peter's school and church as well as PCVS. Led by historian Elwood Jones, the walk will feature Simcoe Street with stories that link the commercial, mercantile, and industrial aspects of Peterborough's development but also a world in which people lived close to where they worked. Participants are asked to meet at the parking lot behind the library 5-10 minutes before the tour starts. Tours run rain or shine.
