Megan Gallant is an adventure lover who holds an M.A. in Critical and Creative Writing from the University of Gloucestershire. Her favourite place to be is near the water and between the pines in her worn-out hammock, reading true crime, drinking coffee, and cuddling her adorable goldendoodle.
Three years ago when she was 19 years old, Lakefield resident Rachel Jenkins refused to believe it when three neurologists told her she might never walk again. After receiving a multiple sclerosis diagnosis almost a year later, she made fitness and recovery her full-time job. Today, as she teaches spin cycling at Full Tilt Cycle in Peterborough, takes on clients for personal training at the 24 Hour Fitness gyms in Lakefield and Young's Point, and works with Community Care Peterborough, you would hardly be able to tell that she's living with MS. Paralyzed three years ago, Rachel Jenkins spent almost a year in intensive recovery before being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Peterborough’s Electric City Culture Council launches grants for individual artists program

Applications open until August 20 to professional artists residing in the Peterborough area for grants of up to $1,500 and $3,500.
At its June 15, 2023 meeting, 100 Men Kawartha Lakes presented Kawartha North Family Health Team executive director Marina Hodson with a cheque for $8,100, part of a total $15,000 donation to the charitable health services organization by the members of the collective philanthropy group. Lindsay Kinsmen Club also donated $5,000 to support the other two charities that presented at the meeting, with Kawartha Lakes Autism Support receiving $3,000 and BGC Kawarthas receiving $2,000.
